D.Edelson of Silicon Valley, CA had this to say about his purchase from Amazon.

logitech squeezebox review 5 starsI used to use a Linksys music bridge, which was ancient history and basically obsolete, so I’ve been looking for a replacement.

It had to be nice and compact, well-made and with a remote control. And it should play my iTunes library and internet radio.

This is an awesome device. The controller feels solid and well made. and is also cool and slick, showing color album art of the song which is playing. The receiver is small, light, discrete and cool looking.

Playing my digital music library means leaving the PC on so Logitech’s software server can run, but that’s fine.

Setup could have been a little easier… but I got through it in a while and everything is fine now.

So far so good. I like it. Definitely seems a keeper.

Mr. Bosco , of Chestnut Ridge, NY, bought a Boom from Amazon. He posted this review of it.

I got the Boom to replace a clock radio. I was so pleased with my Squeezebox Touch that I thought I would try this too and I’ve been totally happy with the result. It is compact and well-designed and little things like the auto-dimming lights on the front panel are great. Sound is excellent for the size – easily as good as my Bose SoundDock.

Some reviewers have said the WiFi setup is difficult. I found it dead easy. The setup routine is step by step, and it shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to be up and running. I am now using this as my primary morning alarm. So far it’s been completely reliable.

Another impressive feature is that if you unplug the unit to move it to another room it remembers all its settings. Plug it in again and off you go. I have it in the kitchen when I cook and it’s nice to have music there. I am thinking of buying a second Boom to keep in the kitchen…but moving back and forth is so easy that I might not bother.

All in all a very impressive gadget!

Texaskitty, from Texas, got one of these from Amazon and here’s what she had to say about it

“I Love Radio Again”

I got this for the kitchen. In the morning I listen to the news, then I listen to Pandora or an internet radio station while I clean and cook. I also bought the battery pack and remote so I can use it in the backyard/ garage. I could also use it as an alarm clock. It has some nice nature sounds (waves, crickets, birds etc.) to help you fall asleep. and there is a sleep timer and a screen dimmer. The dimmer is GREAT, as some electronics are so bright they wake me up.

It is only a mono speaker but it is a 21st Century mono speaker so it sounds great and not like the poor mono sound I remember from my youth.

If I end up buying the duet for the a/v receiver I will need to network these for same stream audio.

Art, from San Carlos, California, bought a Logitech Squeezebox Touch from Amazon and posted this review

This product is amazing. It is my first Logitech Squeezebox product – really my first attempt to do computer based audio outside of just using iTunes and plugging my computer headphone jack into a stereo, which is nowhere near as much fun or as great sounding as the Touch.

I have been wanting a product that I could use in my high-grade home stereo. Logitech SB Transporter seemed like a good idea but it was expensive ($2000).

If you are curious about computer based audio to feed your home stereo, you can stop reading here. Just buy this thing. It is amazing. But not perfect. Some aspects of it are easier to configure than others. But it is a life changing experience as regards my use of music in my home.

I “rip” cds into iTunes using Apple lossless for computer playback and it sounds excellent when played by the Touch, either via analog out or via digital into a third party DAC.

It is FOR THE MOST PART very easy to set up and use. It found my wifi network quickly, and it found the iTunes library on my Mac quickly. I am getting internet radio stations from all over the world. The sound from the analog outputs is EXTREMELY good – very close to my awesome Cary cd player ($2500 new).

The Touch – for just $300 – has excellent tonality, superb detail, deep and well controlled bass….. It is shockingly good.

I bought another Touch for use in my bedroom stereo. I am keeping the first one in my main high end audio system.

I am having some niggles setting up a couple of aspects of the Touch but the basic functionality is working great. It is taking music off my Mac, no problem. I’m also playing music off an SDHC card in the Touch (this is the first Logitech Squeezebox to offer this, I believe). Feeding the Touch directly with an external hard drive is a bit hit or miss.

The remote is really good. When you use it the letters get bigger on the screen – perfect.

I am giving this 5 stars because it is fantastic; easy to set up, sounds great and life-changing when it comes to home entertainment. I was tempted to deduct a star because of some aspects that are harder to configure but I just can’t bring myself to do it.

This model ain’t perfect, but it is fantastic.
